END OF YEAR REFLECTION

Throughout my time in this class, I feel like my writing has improved, and the way I approach it has changed. Other classes this semester have helped me too, but this class is where I feel I’ve put those skills to the test more often in a variety of media. It also got me thinking more about how creative writing really has a place in so many areas of the digital world, from games to VR and more. The biggest change to what I was planning on during the year, was with the original treatment and the game design project. I originally had the idea for Rule The Turf for the game design project, but not knowing if we’d need to expand later into programming it, I chose to do the Hippo one. I liked the Hippo one but really preferred the Rule The Turf more, which is why I switched back when it came time to do the original treatment. From there, I was able to go more in-depth and include diagrams and illustrations for it, and even add a fun Inklewriter interactive portion. I was inspired by my peers in class and the fact that their projects weren’t based on trying to make their game a real thing, but rather on their passions. I found myself getting pigeonholed in the old idea to make something that can be finished, so seeing their projects led me to change mine for the treatment. One thing I wish we would’ve done more of was story building using the CLOSAT cards. The exercises we did the first time we did it I think were great, and I know they helped me get in the mindset of writing in the more unique styles that we have in class.

I’ve had a busy schedule, so I haven’t really been able to make edits to the work that I’ve already done. However, I’ve taken feedback and worked to implement it into my future projects. I know I used the same numbered format on the design document for the final project, but that was just because since it was quite long, it was an easier way for me to format the different categories and tabs. In the future, if I turned it into a more official design document, I would try to make it more visibly appealing and easier to read

This site is pretty much complete. You can see all the CLOSAT cards I made, as well as each project in chronological order; with the exception of the Paris, Texas review; which is a little out of order.
