BIO AND PERSONAL STATEMENT:

Taylor Stolworthy is a college student enrolled at the University of Tampa. In high school, he had a long acting career where he starred in over a dozen plays and musicals, and also won three awards for being one of the top actors in high school. In high school, he learned to code and even participated in Lockheed Martin’s annual Code Quest competition. At college, he’s continued to hone his coding and graphic design skills as he pursues a New Media major. He also is working as an Athletic Communications Student Assistant for the UT Sports program, where he assists in calling play-by-play, social media, stat-keeping, and more.

Taylor's true passions come from the world of sports. Following everything from baseball to football, to auto-racing, to association football (or as it's called in the US, soccer,) sports are a huge part of his life and work. A majority of his work in and out of the classroom has dealt with the sports he loves, and he hopes to eventually forge a successful career in either broadcasting, sports journalism, or a related field in sports. A lot of the work he has done in his New Media major has also been related to sports, from creating an interactive soccer game, to creating an interactive memorial based on the Hillsborough Disaster where 97 people sadly lost their lives. While at UT, he wants to hone his craft and focus on building a strong background of skills to utilize. From getting experience in play-by-play to becoming stronger at graphic design and even dabbling in some animation. Presently, he's taking multiple writing-oriented classes, including Journalism 101, Fiction Forms, and Digital Communications in society alongside this one (Writing for Interactive Media,) where he hopes to refine his writing craft to continue strengthening his skill set. Even though his passions lie in sports, he knows that he shouldn't be pigeon-holed into one theme and style of work, and wants to be able to explore different themes throughout the semester. For instance, the two short stories that he has worked on in groups so far didn't involve sports at all, except for the inclusion of AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys play. He wants to become stronger in all aspects of his work because he knows that being a one-trick-pony isn't beneficial in today's work environment, people need to be flexible. By gaining and refining skills in many subjects, he has a lot of options on where to take his career.
